It’s More Than A Piece Of Plastic
Choosing the right credit card is crucial for Amazon & eBay sellers who frequently make large purchases to resell on the platform. A well-selected credit card can provide benefits such as cash back, points, and favorable payment terms.
Today, we will explore five credit cards that are particularly advantageous for resellers. We will discuss the pros and cons of each card, not only from the perspective of an Amazon seller but also considering personal use benefits.
For sellers who spend significant amounts each month on their credit cards, the right choice can have a profound impact on their profitability… or, at least feel really good when they book a 5-night vacation entirely on credit card points.
I personally spent over $81,000 last month.
A debit card would have gotten me $0 in rewards AND I would have owed ALL that money immediately.
A 2% cash back credit card would have given me $1,620 in cash back AND over 30 days to pay that back.
A travel rewards card that I can transfer points to at a 5% rate would have gotten me $4,050 in travel credits, free TSA Pre-check AND free access to a network of airport lounges to sip free drinks in while I wait to travel for free.
So yes… your credit card does matter.
The bottom line is that credit card cash back or points earned on purchases can significantly enhance your bottom line. Not to mention: Favorable credit and payback terms can help manage cash flow far more effectively. When trying to ramp up to higher volume, an additional 15-30 days of cash flow can be invaluable.
A quick note. All this information is simply that: Information. This is not investment or financial advice and none of this is a recommendation or a solicitation to apply for any of these credit cards. Do your own research before making any credit card-related decisions. Read more on that here.
With that in mind, let's delve into the top credit cards for Amazon & eBay sellers.
Cash Back Winner: Capital One Spark
The Capital One Spark card offers a variety of benefits to both Amazon/eBay sellers and personal users. It provides unlimited 2% cash back on all purchases, making it an excellent choice for those who spend a substantial amount on Amazon. The card also offers free employee cards, allowing sellers to delegate expenses while earning rewards.
Pros:
Unlimited 2% cash back on all purchases
$1,000 signup bonus
Cash back is awarded immediately (not a month later, like most cards)
Free employee cards for easy expense management
No foreign transaction fees
Additional business benefits and expense-tracking tools
Cons:
Annual fee (waived for the first year)
Requires excellent credit to qualify
Bottom Line: The Capital One Spark card is an incredible option for larger Amazon sellers due to its straightforward cash back structure and valuable business tools. It is the card I do most of my sourcing on, as I enjoy getting an immediate 2% cash back on all my purchases. If you’re a relatively big spender looking for cash back, this is the card for you. However, if you are a bit smaller of a seller, the annual .

Travel Winner: Capital One Venture X
The Capital One Venture X card caters to frequent travelers, but its benefits can also extend to Amazon sellers. It offers unlimited 2X miles on every purchase and some of the best travel perks of any travel card in its class.
Pros:
2X miles on all purchases
75,000 mile signup bonus
$300 annual travel credit (almost neutralizes the annual fee)
Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee credit
Access to Priority Pass Airport Lounges
No foreign transaction fees
Transfer miles to airline partners for improved rates
Cons:
Annual fee (but annual travel credit largely offsets it)
Not a good fit if you’re not a traveler
Bottom Line: The Capital One Venture X card is ideal for Amazon & eBay sellers who value travel benefits alongside competitive rewards. It’s my favorite travel card both for its point values as well as laundry list of perks - including free access to many airport lounges across the world. However, if travel perks are not a priority, the annual fee and the card's travel-centric nature should be considered.

Lifestyle Winner: American Express Gold
The American Express Gold card is renowned for its generous rewards program, which includes bonus points for dining and grocery purchases. While it may not be directly tailored to Amazon/eBay sellers, the card's benefits extend to a wide range of spending categories.
This doesn’t particularly excel at any one category (it doesn’t have the travel perks of a Venture X, nor does it have the extended payment terms of the Amex Plum), but it is a great all-around “lifestyle” card for some of your regular monthly expenses - including $10 each month towards Uber and several restaurants. Plus, it still holds in own in teh travel rewards department.
Pros:
4X points on dining and grocery store purchases
75,000 point signup bonus
$10 monthly Uber & Dining credit
Flexible redemption options, including statement credits and transfers to airline and hotel partners
Premium travel benefits, such as airline fee credits and airport lounge access
Cons:
Annual fee
Limited 1X points on other purchases
Bottom Line: The American Express Gold card offers exceptional rewards for dining and grocery expenses, which can be advantageous for Amazon sellers who frequently invest in these categories. However, the annual fee and lower point earnings on non-bonus categories should be considered.

Best Payment Terms: American Express Plum
The American Express Plum card is designed for business owners who prioritize flexible payment terms over rewards. It offers a unique "Pay Later" feature that allows users to defer payment on a portion of their balance.
Pros:
"Pay Later" option provides extended payment terms
No foreign transaction fees
Business expense management tools
Cons:
Annual fee
You lose many of the rewards by taking advantage of the deferred payment option
Bottom Line: The American Express Plum card is suitable for Amazon sellers who prioritize cash flow management and extended payment terms. However, the lack of a traditional rewards program may make it less attractive to those seeking direct financial benefits.

Smaller Seller Winner: Citi Double Cash
The Citi Double Cash card is one of the most popular cards out there due to its straightforward cash back structure, making it appealing for Amazon sellers seeking simplicity. It offers 2% cash back on all purchases—1% when you buy and an additional 1% when you pay off your balance. The smaller credit lines and foreign transaction fees mean this isn’t the best fit for sellers who are actively scaling into 5-figure months. However, the Citi Double Cash is a great free option for sellers just dipping their toes into the reselling world.
Pros:
2% cash back on all purchases
No annual fee
Flexible redemption options
Cons:
No introductory bonus
Foreign transaction fees apply
Smaller average credit limit will limit larger sellers
Bottom Line: The Citi Double Cash card is an excellent choice for Amazon & eBay sellers who prioritize a no-fuss, flat-rate cash back structure. While it lacks an introductory bonus, the absence of an annual fee is an attractive feature.

Conclusion
Credit cards are an admittedly tangential part of reselling. You shouldn’t base a buying decision based on your credit card rewards. However, you shouldn’t ignore their benefits either.
As I mentioned earlier, my credit card choice could have meant a $4k+ difference in my rewards in the month of May alone!
Even if you are not spending $80k+/month, the right credit card could still be the difference between eating leftovers again or eating one meal out for free. Or it could be the difference between economy and business class on that cross-country flight.
All because you had a better credit card for your goals.
Consider your spending habits, business needs, and personal financial goals to make an informed decision that aligns with your Amazon & eBay selling journey.
Then… enjoy the free Mai Tais in that airport lounge before you board that free flight you paid for with credit card points.
